My name is Alan McGrath. I'm a successful Aust CFD trader and I use this blog and Twitter to post my trade and market observations.
I've recently been joined by a trading colleague, Kevi, who will share his thoughts on trading.
When reading blog and Twitter, keep in mind that we are short term traders. Projected time frame for trades is usually from several minutes to several days. All views expressed here are those of the author's and do not constitute advice of any kind.

Morning all,
I get the feeling there might be a few people that went short yesterday expecting the US overnight to continue the downward direction. DJIA up 129pts which is very nice, so i'm expecting some shorts to chase on open so they dont get too burnt.
Some nice movers yesterday even with that negative lead. Here are some charts. Please note also that my charts from the previous days are still in play and might be worth checking to see how they are going.
Ram Resources (RMR)
Northern Uranium (NTU)
Aussie Q Resources (AQR)
Sabre Resources (SBR)
Cheers and good luck

Sorry folks but I have been totally buried in immigration paperwork tonight. My partner is a US citizen and we have been filling out her partner visa application...literally hundreds of pages of information required. Can't say it's been much fun but I'm sure it'll all be worth it!
U.S Markets, Gold, AUD, Oil, Metals...all up as I typed. There's a long way to go, but early signs are good for a bounce tomorrow. A little volatility creeping in to U.S markets now...will it signal a change in short term direction? Only time will tell...I really try not to make market predictions, I simply try to trade the price action as I see it.
I'll try to post a few charts in the morning if I can...even with market weakness today there were plenty of very strong performers. REE plays were again leading the way, and in the larger cap end of town, stocks that benefit from a dipping Aussie dollar showed some strength. CSL, OST and BSL are a few that caught my eye. (CSL one we featured in the last video)

Morning all,
Well it had to be expected sooner or later the fall in the US. Banks have been weak for a while now, and that US dollar looked certain to bounce given the how hard it has fallen in recent weeks.
Still a day like this, us day traders can usually take advantage of the carnage in the first half hour of trade and walk away with some hopefully decent profits. I will ask Al to try and put together a video tonight of some of the examples we see this morning.
Regardless, here are some charts of stocks which performed well yesterday and showed promising signs for today.
Iron Ore Holdings (IOH)
Announced a few days back a large resource upgrade to half a billion tonnes of ore. Intial reaction to the announcement was fairly subdued, however yesterday we saw the interest grow seeing it close on its high of $1.72. Chart is showing a nice breakout, so its definately worth watching over the coming days. NB: Target on chart is only indiciative from a technical aspect, its not a given target.
Altona Mining (AOH)
Aussie Q Resources (AQR)
Azumah Resources (AZM)
CSL Limited (CSL)
A stock which performs when the US dollar strengthens. Will more then likely have a decent bounce from here.
Cheers and good luck today

Just a quick post to let you know of a small but very handy addition to the blog.
On the top right hand corner you will see a link named "FP Morning Money". This is a link to a daily market update issued every morning by FP Markets to their trading clients.
It includes a snapshot and commentary of overseas indices and commodities, and other useful information.
FP have kindly allowed me to offer this link to all blog readers.
Enjoy!

XJO just couldn't hold on to any gains today, and it felt like some heat was coming off a few of the speccie flyers of late. Still no shortage of opportunities though.
Tonight's vid includes GNS, IOH, ELD, BLR, BOL, CSL, NCR.

Still undecided whether to do charts via video each night, or just do charts on the blog, and produce a couple of videos per week more focussed on trade set ups, and other tutorials.
Any thoughts?
Alan
Morning all,
A nice relaxing weekend here, and ready for another week on the market. I managed to get a few charts done over the weekend, with some focus in particular around the uranium sector as it appears to be hotting up.
First I will post two charts I did on the Shanghai index. I didnt realise how solid a run it had over the past month until I did these.
Now for some uranium stock charts.
Aura Energy (AEE)
White Canyon Uranium (WCU)
Extract Resources (EXT)
Anyway, one more chart I managed to do.
Mundo Minerals (MUN)
Cheers and good luck today
